I read a LOT, like all the time and I have got through a lot of books of late since spending less time on social media, however the ones I am going to share today are either good for the soul, good for focus or good for getting things done. Honestly, they have totally changed my way of thinking and definitely made me grow as a person.
The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
I loved this book. It required my full concentration, but I didn’t mind, as it has given me so many ideas of how to handle myself and think about how I could do things differently, whether it be at work or with Mark and the kids. I loved his examples, especially the ones that talked about how he handled situations with his children. It has helped me realise I can change how I react, feel and see the world. The first 3 habits are to make you independent, the next 3 make you work effectively as a team player, and the 7th is to keep you growing. It gives you the understanding of what taking responsibility for your own actions and outcomes are and guidelines on how to change things for the better permanently.
The 5 Love Languages of Children
This is a seriously good book for anyone with children. I couldn’t put it down. I truly believe that it will help all parents to be able to talk to their children in a way that makes them feel loved, heard and nurtured. I loved his advice and also the case studies to make the ideas hit home.
This book made me realise that it’s not about working harder, it’s about working smarter. In this book a variety of ideas and theories are put forward to help you improve your work life and overall productivity. Some obviously can’t apply to everyone but I did take a lot from it and am definitely working smarter and am less stressed. It’s also made me want to travel the world!
Earth is hiring: The new way to live, lead and give for millennials and anyone else who gives a sh*t
This book is an absolute must-read for anyone who cares about the planet and making a real change. Peta shares her brilliant insight on tough subjects like money, living, leading and giving. It’s an inspiring reminder of a new way to live and an important read for anyone working with millennials. Peta doesn’t make apologies for the way she writes, the words she uses or her views on life. Very refreshing, I highly recommend it.
One of the most inspiring books I have ever read. Oh my gosh I loved it and read it in a day. Anita takes you through the journey of her life — before, during, and after cancer. She intimately shares her near-death experience and how it changed everything for her. She is an incredible woman. I took from this that the most important thing we can do is love.
This book really helped me understand the importance of self love. Everything we do is rooted in how we feel about ourselves. Louise helps readers identify thought patterns that are harming us. The way we think manifests in our reality. Anyone with health issues will welcome this book, as it is filled with hope. By understanding the particular thought patterns that keep us from healing, Louise makes positive suggestions geared towards changing negative patterns and healing not just the body, but the soul and the life. She shares her own battles with abuse and cancer and provides an inside look at how she healed from a virtual death sentence. It is a wonderful book and I totally recommend it.
