5 key denim pieces
For today’s Friday favourites I thought I would concentrate on five key denim pieces you need in your wardrobe, explain why and then find you my favourite ones on the high street right now.
The Denim Shirt
A denim shirt is so versatile. It can be worn on it’s own or open over a t-shirt, you can tuck it in or belt it up. A real 2 in 1 item. There are lots available on the highstreet and some fabulous shacket (shirt/jacket in one) versions. You don’t need to just opt for a blue one, buy in different tones, I also love black. A denim shirt can be dressed up or down so is perfect for a work look as well as super cool at the weekend.
The Denim Jacket
An oversized denim jacket is a must in every wardrobe. There are some really cool oversized denim jackets around at the minute, this look is so ‘in’. But it is also something that has never really gone out of fashion. Denim jackets really are the perfect cover-up. Don’t be afraid to wear the double denim look. Just make sure you have the darker denim on the bottom half and lighter denim on the top. I love to wear mine over a dress to play it down or layered under a winter coat.
The Denim Jumpsuit
I think jumpsuits/boilersuits may be my most worn items in my wardrobe. Definitely worth including in the top 5 denim key pieces. Always my go to as I don’t really need to think about what to wear. A poloneck or breton underneath in the winter with the top buttons undone and then in summer on its own with sandals. (watch my video here on how I style mine).
The Denim Dress
We all need a denim shirt dress in our wardrobe. Another totally versatile piece. Wear with socks and boots/trainers now, sandals in the summer, over swimwear on the beach or if like me you’re not great at getting your legs out they look fab worn over jeans/pants as a tunic.
The Straight Leg Jean
Jeans are something we all need in our wardrobe and there are so many different fits these days, skinny, paper bag, mom but I have concentrated on the straight leg as it is the most flattering to wear. Make sure they are tight on your waist to accentuate your figure and are snug on your hips. These look good rolled up with socks and trainers for the day or with heels for a more dressed up look.
There you have it, my 5 key denim pieces. These you will wear over and over again with so many different items of clothing.
