Daisy is desperate to do up her room and is wanting to make it more grown up. She’s stated that the main priorities include lots of light, a little sofa, rugs, plants, storage and cool decoration. I 100% agree that the key to any well organised bedroom is good storage, for me it should embody the perfect combination of form, function and beauty.
We will pick a neutral colour for the walls as this will serve as a blank canvas for her decorative items, and the rapidly changing tastes of miss Daisy J. We will use art as it’s a great way to bring visual interest to the room, and will use pops of colour in her bed linen (we’re thinking terracotta and pink) and soft furnishings.
As we’re thinking of keeping the walls simple, Daisy has mentioned bunting and wall hangings to dress up her plain walls and we can easily remove these as her interests change. She also has a corkboard which she likes to add photos/inspirational quotes and stickers to.
Daisy wants fairy lights to help to create a cosy ambience and warmth, I want a task light beside her bed to help to encourage her to read and we both want a gorgeous lampshade on her ceiling light (we’re thinking rattan) to bring focus to her room. Is there anything more relaxing than falling asleep to fairy lights?
Daisy’s room won’t be just for sleeping, it’ll also be a space for study, for listening to music, and for play. As such, we want to define these different spaces: maybe introducing a sofa, bean bag or hanging chair. To encourage study we’re looking at adding a desk.
Finally we’ll use rugs, cushions, curtains and bed linen to introduce pattern, colour and texture. Bed linen of contrasting colour and pattern adds an element of fun, and a rug provides some warmth and texture for under her feet.
With all the above in mind we have chosen our favourite pieces.
