If there’s one moisturiser I totally love and buy over and over again it’s Weleda Skin Food. They call it Skin Food because it actually feeds your skin with natural and nourishing goodness! It’s loved by celebrities and makeup artists all over the world (Victoria Beckham loves it) and can be used for so many things.
Formulated in 1926, it has remained unchanged for almost a century. It is 100% natural and only contains the purest plant and flower extracts. Oils of Chamomile, Calendula and Wild Pansy sooth and calm rough dry skin, whilst lanolin, sunflower and sweet almond oil provide a natural barrier against environmental stresses. Weleda Skin food is anti-inflammatory, circulation boosting and totally moisturising.
Here are some ways I use my Skin Food.
Highlighter
Due to its hydrating ingredients (Sunflower and Sweet Almond Oils), Skin Food makes a perfectly natural looking highlighter. I apply it to my cheekbones, brow bone, on top of my cupids bow and down the bridge of my nose after applying my foundation. It gives a healthy, dewy glow that catches the light and gives the look of brightness.
Primer for my make-up
I use Skin Food to create a flawless, hydrated base to help my makeup last longer. I pat a thin layer over my face, allow it to soak in and then apply my foundation over the top for dewy, long-lasting full coverage.
Lip balm
If my nose and lips get dry or chapped, I apply some Skin Food to them to help heal and moisturise the area super fast.
Before Fake tanning
I massage a little Skin Food into my knees, elbows and ankles so they don’t go too dark when I fake tan. Thanks to the natural Beeswax found in Skin Food, when I apply the fake tan over the top of the dry areas it blends perfectly into the skin without any dark patches.
Cuticle cream
Skin Food helps to nourish my cuticles and has helped my nails grow. It’s also great at keeping my hands from drying out. I just massage a little into my hands and nails a few times a day or last thing at night. It so good.
Face mask
Soothing Chamomile and Calendula make Skin Food one of my favourite face masks to help when I have damaged, dehydrated and irritated skin. I massage a thick layer to my face and neck and allow it to soak in, then I remove it with a damp muslin cloth. It makes my skin feel soft, supple and perfectly moisturised! My favourite place to do this is most definitely in the bath.
Cracked skin
Skin Food is great for soothing scraped knees, cracked heels and elbows. It helps to moisturise the dry, rough and cracked areas. When needed I apply it nightly to the affected parts to keep them smooth, soft and hydrated and help prevent it getting any worse.
Hair serum
I apply Skin Food sparingly to the ends and through the lengths of my hair when it’s damp to help restore moisture. When my hair is looking a bit dull it’s fab at bringing it back to life. Skin Food also helps with my split ends.
I also want to mention its amazing on eczema, dermatitis and rosacea. Oooh and it’s fabulous with nappy rashes!
